Guardian Angel: Focus to Find by SandieBlair Guardian Angel: Focus to Find by SandieBlair
Here is a picture of some of the Missing Children Portraits and Internet Safety posters that I hung up at our local library today. They were part of an "offshoot" of the Guardian Angel Project [link] which I titled Focus to Find. I had local school children work on their own missing children portraits and also make posters that will help others to learn how to stay safe while on the internet.
Many people stopped and asked me about the pictures and took time to stop and look at them and read the posters about safety. They were also able to see the portrait that John Paul Thornton painted of Jozlynn.
I am so honored to be a part of this project, and to be the guardian angel of Jozlynn Martinez. I pray that she will be loved and remembered.

Edit: Update: Check out what my friend Claudia :iconclaudiamm37: has started as part of the Guardian Angel Project! If you like to make ATC cards, you will love this! [link]

Bravo.
Finding it hard to express myself about this issue, the words seem hollow.
Suffice to say, that I think people like John, and you, are HEROES.
When I mentioned this to John, he asked me to do something dedicated to this MORE than worthy cause.
I know it's not much, but this is a link to one piece, which has thumbnails of the other three pictures [link]
I put thumbnails of John's amazing paintings in the Artist's comments.
It's beyond me how somebody could be so cruel as to STEAL a child's voice, and choice.
Keep up the Wood Gork.

Great job on your pictures too.

I know what you mean, I don't know how anyone could be so heartless, to steal or harm a child.

I am a mother, activist and an artist (so I feel). This demonstrates so much that I believe in on so many levels. Thank you!

Very thoughtful SandieBlair. You can call the work that you’re doing, “a Ministry”, because God is putting a special interest in the children you’re teaching. And as a Minister of God, I declare in the name of Jesus our Lord to the children you are working with, "a revival" and they will bring souls to God, not only on other children, but the parents as well. God is blessing you by blessing others, and one day when we’re all in our God's presence, He, will reward you greatly. God bless you

Oh Sandie! You did it!
It is so amazing! What great work the students did! What great work YOU did! I am so totally proud of you!

And there is our Jozlynn!

I will be creating an article that will feature this guardian angel event, and a journal that will document everything too!

Yes, WE did it! :w00t:
The student's work will blow you away! I am going to post more of their portraits close up tomorrow. Our local newspaper accepted my press release too, so things are going along well. About 150 people have seen Jozlynn already, and this coming week, many more will get to. I'm very excited. I've had a hard time getting people to agree to get their picture taken while looking at her though. People get very shy about that, but I will keep trying. But you can know this for sure...that your portrait of Jozlynn is making an impact on my community.

what an INCREDIBLE Project, Sandie! How did you come by it? (your inspiration) and how did you get the children involved?

Thanks Claudia! Yes, it is incredible! Here is a link with some info about it. [link]
I read about the Guardian Angel Project shortly after I joined DA. Right away I knew that I wanted to participate. It's such a worthy cause. Then one night the idea came to me that it would be great to involve children in the project by having a contest. That way they would focus on the children while they were drawing their portrait and others would get to see the portraits as well, so many people would get to see the pictures and info about the missing children. I wrote to John Paul about it and he said it sounded great, so that is what I did. I even went to one of the schools and they held an assembly where I gave a presentation about the project to the entire school. I was so scared, (that's not the type of thing I would normally do) but thankfully God helped me to be courageous. It was very worth it to see the looks on their faces and the tears in their eyes as they listened to me and looked at the portraits that John Paul had painted. ( I made a powerpoint presentation for it that had the song "Give Me Your Eyes" by Brandon Heath, have you ever heard it? It's an amazing song!)
Anyway, the artwork that the students did is amazing. :excited: I was so excited when I went to the schools to pick it up. My daughter did one of the posters for the safety contest. She's so excited about it.
Now you know why I didn't have time to do an ATC trade. :giggle:

That's great Claudia. Even better than posting my picture, will you go to this link [link] and find a missing child to post on your facebook site? :gallery: That's another thing that I encouraged the students to do. Think about how many people view your facebook profile and pictures...so many more people would get the chance to see the pictures of missing children this way and it would really increase the chances of them being found. Another thing that you could do is to post a link to John Paul Thornton's site here on DA. :w00t: Thanks Claudia. :tighthug:
